Johnny loved the flipbook "Mama Mama/Papa Papa" by Jean Marzollo for a long time. It is a sweet book, if not a little staunch in its defense of gender stereotypes. When he was N's age we read "Chicka Chicka ABC", "The Going to Bed Book", "My Many Colored Days" and "Put Me in the Zoo". Our barometer was a combination of his kicks and gurgles, and our own enjoyment of said books. Those few were the big winners on both counts.

Now we read about cars, trains and trucks all the time. Super!
