One thing I tried for naps that seemed to work, and I forget if you're already doing this, is to lay him down and then give him 5 minutes to settle down, then 5 more, etc. etc. I had the worst baby ever and even he started to nap better and longer once I let him settle himself down for naps. Also I made his room pretty dark (it still is) and used the same routine as we did at night and that made it feel better for me doing the CIO. It is unbelievable the amount of time you have to spend thinking about sleep! It still blows my mind.
